Lara Diloy returns to Teatro de la Zarzuela
Madrid-based conductor Lara Diloy returns to the pit of the Teatro de la Zarzuela to conduct two gems of the Spanish lyric repertoire: Federico Chueca’s El bateo and Ruperto Chapí’s La revoltosa. On this occasion, Lara Diloy shares musical direction with Óliver Díaz, in a new stage production directed by Juan Echanove.
One of the most outstanding novelties of this production is the recovery of an unpublished fragment of La revoltosa, a tercet at the end of the first scene which was lost in 1897 and which, more than a century later, will be performed for the first time thanks to the work of the musicologist Enrique Mejías García and the orchestration of Juan de Udaeta.
On April 10th, Radio Clásica’s programme La Dársena featured conductor Lara Diloy, interviewed on the occasion of her return to the Teatro de la Zarzuela, where she will conduct El bateo and La revoltosa. Throughout the conversation, the conductor shared reflections on her links with the theatre, her approach to the zarzuela repertoire and her current projects.
