Lara Diloy makes her debut at the helm of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria
Lara Diloy makes her debut in the Symphonic Hall of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in the capital of Gran Canaria to conduct the Christmas Solidarity Concert of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria (OFGC), which is held with the support of the Disa Foundation.
The programme includes pieces by Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Rodrigo, Weber, Widor, Crusell, Broughton and Donizetti.
“I came to conducting as a result of a process that I think was natural. I started studying conducting to complete my musical training. My initial idea was to be an instrumentalist in an orchestra, but once I discovered conducting, I was hooked and it has become my way of life”.
She believes that much progress has been made towards equality and is confident that it will no longer be news that a woman conducts an orchestral ensemble.
